BLURB LOVE #1

Book blurb is the most important aspect when it comes to deciding what I want to read. It is usually what makes me add (or not add) book to my TBR. Imagine there is no cover, no title and you have no idea who wrote it. Would you read such a book based just on its blurb? Test yourself.

BLURB #1:

At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?

In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps, most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?

Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.

BLURB #2:

In the year 2054, after decades of gender selection, India now has a ratio of five boys for every girl, making women an incredibly valuable commodity. Tired of marrying off their daughters to the highest bidder and determined to finally make marriage fair, the women who form the country of Koyanagar have instituted a series of tests so that every boy has the chance to win a wife.

Sudasa, though, doesn't want to be a wife, and Kiran, a boy forced to compete in the test to become her husband, has other plans as well. As the tests advance, Sudasa and Kiran thwart each other at every turn until they slowly realize that they just might want the same thing.

This beautiful, unique novel is told from alternating points of view-Sudasa's in verse and Kiran's in prose-allowing readers to experience both characters' pain and their brave struggle for hope.

BLURB #3:

Some days are brighter than others, but Penelope Finnel has learned she can be invisible behind the colored lenses of her heart-shaped sunglasses.

Her mind is her own worst enemy, and simply waking up in the morning is risky. For a girl like her, staying in bed is easier. Especially when the day comes to start school in a new town with new kids who don’t understand that the clouds are not the only reason everything is so gloomy.

Dillon Decker is a typical boy from a typical small town who radiates light and happiness. Under the hovering glare of her father, Dillon leads Penelope around on his bicycle’s handlebars, hoping he will be the cure to her madness.

But as time goes by and when friend turns to lover, and lover turns to caretaker, how much can either of them endure before they’re swallowed whole?

This is a story about rollerblades and moving trucks, trading candy for smiles, and passing notes across lawns.

First love and the struggle to keep it sane.

The true love way.

I really really want to read book 2! I hadn't read the blurb before this...just the first paragraph because BAD ME I added it on cover alone. x) I like this feature! It actually gets me to read and focus on the blurbs. XD (It also makes me want to read 5 to 1 so much more. xD)
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

Very interesting, I chose Blurb 3 and what do you know it's a book I already wanted to read based on the author.

Love this! I said yes to the first 2. Then I saw the cover for book 2 and wanted it even more.

I'm very excited for the first one! I love that cover too. Fun feature :)

Yes, for BOOK TWO. Mainly, because I have read this blurb before and have a copy of the book lol. This is a really great feature though<3

I'm a total weirdo and I will tell you why...

Most of the time I don't read the blurb. *gasp* I know...like I said, I'm weird. *shrugs* I typically look at the overall rating on GR, the genre it falls under in Amazon and the cover. Maybe I will read the first sentence or two but not the whole thing. Do I do this all the time? Nope. But I will however, do it the majority of the time. I do enjoy the element of surprise! With contemporary romance, I will definitely read the entire blurb because those books can be a hit or miss for me.

This is a fantastic post!!! :)

Oh I love this new feature.
I ended up liking all the synopsis (although I got mixed feelings from the second book since it's an actual real issue going on) but i'm happy to report that you chose good reads Lucia! LOL

I usually stay away from blurbs. I'll read a few covers and then just remember if I was interested in them and pick them up months later without rereading the blurb (and by then I've forgotten what the books is about so I go in blind) and I usually end up really liking the books.

I love the second blurb! It sounds so different and unique. I definitely need to check it out. For me to add a book to my TBR, I judge the cover and the blurb. If neither does it for me, then bye bye!

Oh I love this :D and I want to read ALL OF THEM lol so I guess I'm adding them all to my TBR list? I always read blurbs, but it's weird seeing them without their covers at first.

I'm actually one of those weird people who don't read blurbs to decide whether to read a book haha. I mostly look at author, cover and GR friends' ratings to decide whether I want to read it!
To be honest, none of the ones above really grab my attention, but I do find that the quality of the blurbs are often not the same as the quality of the actual book anyway :P

I'm such a cover buyer, so I love the idea of ONLY using the blurb to decide whether to read or not. So fun!! :) The 1st and 3rd sound like books I would like. Thanks for sharing!!

This is a really clever idea, makes you wonder what books we would read when cover doesn't play a part. The second one stood out to me because it sounded the most original, the other two blurbs seemed similar to other things I have read.

What a great idea! I'm loving this! I'm all for book 2 and added it to my list! Love NA and dystopia and this just looks very unique. Not sure if I would have noticed from the cover or not but forcing me to read the blurb got me. I always find books I love with a "meh" cover and then have read books I DNF'd when the cover was amazing. Thanks for the great post!

This is such a great idea, Lucia! So many times we judge a book by its cover and not by its blurb, that we oftentimes miss out the good ones. I wasn't interested in books 1 and 3, but book 2 hooked me line and sinker and I just added it to my TBR :D

I would TOTALLY read books 1 & 3 but I have to say that I already knew what book 1 was because she is a favorite Author of mine, LOL --I am soon excited for that book!!!
I'm a total blurb whore so I really like this feature. I will read a book based on a blurb only when a blog tour request comes my way so I've gotten used to taking these risks ;)
However, when I am picking something to read "mood reading" I will take into account ALL factors: Cover, Blurb, Author, Genre, and Reviews!
Great Post!

To be honest one of my greatest problems has to be that I never do read the book blurbs! Because of that, sometimes I don't have the vaguest idea what kind of book I am reading. I base off of covers (fessing up here!) and also reviews in general, where I might get some idea of the book itself.
