BLURB LOVE #8

Book blurb is the most important aspect when it comes to deciding what I want to read. It is usually what makes me add (or not add) book to my TBR. Imagine there is no cover, no title and you have no idea who wrote it. Would you read such a book based just on its blurb?
Test yourself.

BLURB #1:

Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.

If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.

BLURB #2:

When a bestselling debut novel from mysterious author J.Colby becomes the literary event of the year, Emiline reads it reluctantly. As an adjunct writing instructor at UC San Diego with her own stalled literary career and a bumpy long-term relationship, Emiline isn’t thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of a young and gifted writer.

Yet from the very first page, Emiline is entranced by the story of Emerson and Jackson, two childhood best friends who fall in love and dream of a better life beyond the long dirt road that winds through their impoverished town in rural Ohio.

That’s because the novel is patterned on Emiline’s own dark and desperate childhood, which means that “J. Colby” must be Jase: the best friend and first love she hasn’t seen in over a decade. Far from being flattered that he wrote the novel from her perspective, Emiline is furious that he co-opted her painful past and took some dramatic creative liberties with the ending.

The only way she can put her mind at ease is to find and confront “J. Colby,” but is she prepared to learn the truth behind the fiction?

BLURB #3:

The princess didn't expect to fall in love--with her nemesis.

Princess Sepora of Serubel is the last Forger in all the five kingdoms. The spectorium she creates provides energy for all, but now her father has found a way to weaponize it, and his intentions to incite war force her to flee from his grasp. She escapes across enemy lines into the kingdom of Theoria, but her plans to hide are thwarted when she is captured and placed in the young king's servitude.

Tarik has just taken over rulership of Theoria, and must now face a new plague sweeping through his kingdom and killing his citizens. The last thing he needs is a troublesome servant vying for his attention. But mistress Sepora will not be ignored. When the two finally meet face-to-face, they form an unlikely bond that complicates life in ways neither of them could have imagined.

Sepora's gift could save Tarik's kingdom from the Quiet Plague. But should she trust her growing feelings for her nemesis, or should she hide her gifts at all costs?

I knew Three Dark Crowns because I love all of the author's other novels but the other two are new to me. Well, I've seen the cover of the third but never clicked on it. Sounds interesting though!

As far as I remember, I never read anything by either of these three authors. It were only blurbs that caught my attention. Three Dark Crowns is probably the one I ammost excited about :)
I always love this feature!!! I really liked blurb 1 &2. The funny thing is I have book 2 on my TBR already but I had totally forgotten the blurb. Oops!

It happens to me to sometimes :)
I recognised the Three Dark Crowns' blurb right away - but I would be keen to check it out regardless of knowing who the author or the cover was - because sisters protecting each other and not being automatically gifted at magic and fulfilling their destiny? YESSSS PLEASE.
I love this feature, so unique in a blogosphere quite enamoured with cover love XD Not that there's anything wrong with that either.

I admit, cover plays a big role in atttracting my attention. But I would never add book to my TBR just because I love cover. But thats me. :)
COOL feature Lucia, ♥ it! I added book #2 based on the blurb (this was a WoW pick of mine but it still took me a minute to place)

I love this because so often we are caught up on the cover and this makes you really think about whether you'd read something!!

Thanks, Eva! Covers are catchy but I was burnt in the past after picking the book only because I loved cover so I try not to pay too much attention to covers anymore. And I am super excited about #2. Unfortunatelly, I was denied request for ARC so I will have to wait until summer to read it...

It sounds amazingm doesn't it? I can't wait to read it :)
I haven't heard of any of these but the first two definitely caught my attention and I'm adding them to my ever growing TBR. :D It's a pity we still have to wait so long for them to be released though.

True! I got excited when I stumbled upon these blurbs and than got sad when I saw release dates lol. Well, good things come to those who wait ;)
Fun idea! Blurb 1 has me a bit intrigued...especially with the idea that the princess who wins might be the darkest. I don't really read a ton of fantasy though, so I don't know. Blurb 2 is my favorite by far though! I love books that have books or reading or something literary included, and I'm curious to see how everything goes down. I can't imagine someone I knew growing up writing a book about us.

I’ve already read blurb #2 and have that book on my tbr-list. Blurb #1 and #2 sounds interesting, but I’m hesitant to add them to my tbr-list, I read mostly contemporary lately. Love this feature, Lucia!

I have been in fantasy/paranormal mood lately but blurb #2 just sounds too good and I need to have it and read that book :)
Ha, when I read the first one I was like fuck no because I'm so tired of this characters are authors trope (like November 9) and after I saw who the author right in only made my decision stronger. Her books aren't for me.
I would love to read the first and last one, they sound amazing!

I havent read much "characters are authors" stories so tblurb #2 had me intrigued. But if it is anything like November 9, I will hate it. Guess I will wait for reviews before I purchase it since my previous experience with author also wasnt that great.
