FEBRUARY RECAP + BOOKSTAGRAMMING

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Hosted byTynga’s Reviews.

WORD COUNT: 563 040

According to How Long to Read I read 563 040 words in February. Considering that I have been busy with family visits, it isn't that bad. But I plan to read more next month!

WHAT I READ IN FEBRUARY:

(pictures are linked to respective Goodreads page)

...

Morning Star (Red Rising #3) by Pierce Brown (5 STARS)
This book is everything, sci-fi/dystopian genre can't get better than this. Read my review here.

Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire #1) by G.R.R. Martin (5 STARS)
I can't believe I waited so long to read this book. It has absolutely perfect cast of black & white & grey characters. I thought that I loved TV show but book is even better and surpassed all my expectations. Onto the next instalment!

Into the Dim (Into the Dim #1) by Janet B. Taylor (1 STAR)
This novel was a huge disappointment in all ways. Full review coming soon on this blog!

In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy #1) by Maya Banks (2 STARS)
In Bed with a Highlander is great pick for leisure reading but nothing more. Full review later.

ARCs FOR REVIEW:

(pictures are linked to respective Goodreads page)

.

Once again I gave in and requested couple of ARCs on Netgalley and Edelweiss. My resolution for upcoming months is pretty straightforward - no more ARCs requests until I finish the ones I already have on my kindle! Wish me luck.

BOOKISH NEWS:

- My friend Anissa from She Reads Too Much blog started European based subscription box business called FairyLoot! It is a monthly YA subscription box and it sounds fantastic. I can't wait to get my box! Read more about this project here.

- Pierce Brown announced that he will write new series set in the same world as Red Rising trilogy. First book will be called Iron Gold and I can't wait to find out more about it!

- The covers for Like a River Glorious (The Gold Seer Trilogy #2) by Rae Carson and Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2) by Leigh Bardugo were revealed and they are absolutely gorgeous. They are the most beautiful covers of 2016 so far!

MY MONTH IN PICTURES:

I did something revolutionary this month. For a long time I refused to join another social media platform. However, last week I decided to set up instagram account under name readingismybreathingblog. I'm still figuring out how it works (and for some reason I'm not getting notification emails) so I apologize in advance if you follow/contact me there and don't hear back from me. What can you expect from me on instagram? Photos of new books that I got, books that I'm currently reading together with teas and scented candles. If you aren't an instagram person do not despair, I'll be reposting all photos in my monthly recap post here on blog as well.

So what was my February like?

NEWBIES ON THE SHELF: A Song of Ice and Fire leather cloth boxed set / blackcurrant scented tea candles

A Game of Thrones / melon-honey scented tea candles / chamomile herbal tea

February reviews on the blog / "Cranberry Queen" tea (dried apple, carrot, grape, red beet, cranberry)

OOOH YOUR BOOKSTAGRAM IS SO NICE!! *dashes off to follow you* And also yay for Morning Star. :') I'm absolutely definitely buying that. Soon. *gulps* I'm just scared for that finale. And squee, I'm glad you liked Game of Thrones! I read all of them last year and WOW. IT IS INTENSE AND AWESOME. I highly recommend reading them like one after the other though, because there are so many plots to remember and it gets hard if you leave long gaps. XD The audios are also spectacular. :') (I prefer the books to the show? But I do still like the show. Tyrion. <3)

Thanks for the instagram follow, Cait! I have already been following you for a while. And I do plan to read one Game of Thrones book every month so I remember details. And I also like first book better than first tv show season. Because let's face it, books are always better than movies/shows :)
I love your pictures!! I have no idea how email notification work. They get pushed to my phone and that's it. I am done requesting ARCs for now because I have too many ad I am woefully behind. I am not reading as fast as I had last year and just have to learn to live with that. Hope you have a great March!

I have also become slower reader comapring to previous year. I just try not to pay attention to numbers and statistics. And thanks, hope you will have great March yourself :)
So happy you joined Instagram! I just followed you on there. :)
I'm hoping to get to the Red Rising series sometime this year and ahh I'm really excited because so many bloggers I trust love it so much.
And ugh Into the Dim. I started the book and was very quick to DNF. That MC was annoying as hell!
I applaud you for your ARCs resolution!! I think I'm going to adopt the same policy because I went way overboard this week. :(
Have a lovely week, Lucia and happy reading!

So true, MC in Into the Dim was terrible, there were moments when I considered DNFing as well. Whole book was a total failure... On the contrary, I can't get enough of Red Rising series so I can't wait until you read it so we can fangirl together, Nick ;)
Loved this post! First congrats on all your words-that's terrific!! I just started reading Game of Thrones so I am looking forward to getting into it!! Also I am just now learning how to use Instagram!! And I Darken is on my tbr as well as Into the Dim-which I am seeing mixed reviews.

Game of Thrones is spectacular, hope you will enjoy it too, Joann :) I will be starting book #2 very soon.
Your instagram pictures are so pretty! I am so bad at instagram lol. I just never really have anything to take pictures of since most of my books are ebooks, so I end up hardly using it. I just have it set up to get notifications on my phone though, not my email. But I will go follow you!

Thank you Kristen. I do not buy printed books that often as well so I will be probably using my kindle for taking pictures instead LOL
That actually makes me happy because I do that too, and us ebook lovers are underrepresented in the blogging community! But I always have issues with the glare and the color coming out wrong :-/ Maybe it'd work better if I stopped being lazy and got out my actual camera, but my phone is so much easier lol.

Another thing we have in common - I always use only my phone :-) But than I have to use some filters on Picmonkey before posting it to Instagram. My initial version of photos looks terrible...
Oh my gosh that A Song of Ice and Fire is GORGEOUS. I already have set but may or may not be planning on something happening to that series so I can get that one xD I just read Into the Dim and was extremely disappointed with it as well :/

I am so glad I waited until leather cloth box set was released to finally buy ASOIAF in print. It is even more gorgeous in real life, it is very reader-friendly and easy to use edition :)
Ahh, thank you so much for the shout out! :D <3 And YES, so glad you finally joined Instagram, hehe! You have such great ARCs - I will be looking forward to finding out what you think about Ivory and Bone and And I Darken! :) ALSO OMG RED RISING!!! I LOVED it, Lucia! Darrow is BAE. I would have totally binge read the series if I didn't have other commitments xD I cannot wait to read them though, and I also can't wait for his new series to come out!

I am especially excited for And I Darken, hopefully it will be a good one! And Darrow is the best, he is one of my all time favorite heroes/narrators ever. But Sevro is my darling :) Cannot wait to see what you will think of Golden Son, it is even better than Red Rising!!!
Your instagram pictures are gorgeous Lucia, I can't wait to see more of them! And I'm glad to see I wasn't that last blogger that joined Instagram :)
I've heard nothing but bad things about Into the Dim which is such a bummer. I need to check out the Red Rising books but the hype scares me...

I try to persuade all my friends to read Red Rising trilogy and so far I have been very successful. Even my mom loves it so I would say that it is timeless story for all age groups. I hope you will love it when you decide to give it a chance, Nereyda :)
♥ your bookstagrams and following you now (azulskies) !!

I also haven't started GoT but I want too so glad to hear that you are loving it so far!!

I was undecided for a long time whether I should read GoT or not, but I am glad that I finally read it because it is awesome!
Aah I'm so happy you joined bookstagram! I love it, even though I've been in a little bit of a taking-pictures-slump lately. That ASOIAF box set is gorgeous, by the way! I'm kind of upset I already own the entire series, otherwise I would be all over that. I really hope you enjoy the rest of the series. I love the TV show and the books are equally amazing. I really need to get started with the Red Rising trilogy. I keep hearing the best things!

I was undecided for a long time whether I should read ASOIAF or not since I already watched and loved ll season of TV show. But when I saw that leather cloth box set I knew that I had to have it :D And yes, please give Red Rising trilogy a chance! It holds very special place in my heart.
